If you've ever dreamed of owning a piece of the Bay Area's contribution to the modern residential architecture history, here's your chance!

This Courtyard-Model Eichler is a true mid-century classic, 1956, according to tax records.  Original Eichler details include floor/ceiling glass, plank tongue/groove ceilings, and of course classic mid-century architecture.   Updates include central A/C and heat, tile flooring, kitchen and baths remodels, a solar-heated pool with a power-operated cover, newer foam roof, and mature landscaping and fruit trees in both the front courtyard and the resort-sized back yard.

Spend a couple of do-it-yourself weekends cosmetically converting this Eichler into your own interpretation to modernism, or, leave it in

After writing an "above-asking" offer on a short sale condo in the 428 Alice loft building earlier this year, I am happy for my clients that stuck through the long and somewhat stressful process and finally closed on their well-deserved new home.

On our first day out viewing properties, we came across a stunning, 6th floor , 2-bedroom, 2 bath corner unit that was so well maintained, it practically looked all-new.  This large 1,200 square foot condo features new bamboo flooring, a granite countertop/stainless steel kitchen, double-vanity/walk-in closet master suite, stackable washer/dryer, 2-car garage parking with an additional storage unit, and floor/ceiling windows in every room with views of the downtown Oakland skyline, estuary, and the Bay Bridge.

After several weeks of multiple high-energy property tours and submitting several "above asking" offers on other units in this extremely competitive market, only to be out-bid, I am happy to have assisted my client in finally landing his first home in the Sierra at Jack London Square.

Patience was key in snapping up this near-perfect condition REO, 8th-floor loft with panoramic views of the Oakland Estuary and Hills, downtown San Francisco, and even across the Bay to the Costal Mountain Range of the Peninsula.  The unit is a spacious 950 square foot, one-bedroom, with dark-stained hardwood flooring, large full bath, in-unit stackable laundry, stainless/Corian kitchen, single-car garage parking, and a garage storage locker. The building features

Imagine waking up to a cool Bay breeze and having breakfast on one of your three large balconies. Or, watching a gorgeous California sunset over the downtown skyline, with Mt. Tamalpais in the distance.

I am excited to have assisted a life-long New York City native in finding a place to call home, solidifying his transition to a new life in the Bay Area.  On a pre-move, property-scouting visit,  I was able to locate and schedule showings of a few lofts and condominium units in Oakland offering a sense of urbanism that could be reminiscent of an East Coast apartment, while combining California-style indoor/outdoor living.

This 16th-floor, Lakeside Regency Plaza condo features a floor-to-ceiling glass wall in every room,

I am happy to have assisted my wonderful clients with the sale of their investment property in the Naglee Park neighborhood.  The home was previously zoned commercial and used to house a law firm and various other professional partnerships and more recently, a residential investment rental.  This transaction was tedious in that involved tenant rights, a change of zoning, an easement removal, and nontraditional buyer financing.  I'm excited to see it close escrow with both the seller and new owner very happy with the outcome.

We are hosting an exclusive event for our clients later this month which is designed to educate attendees on the process of building a modern prefab home in the San Francisco Bay Area.   We've hosted a similar event in the past (with Michelle Kaufmann Design) which "sold out" quickly so we are sharing it with our blog followers early.

This event - Building a Modernist & Eco-Friendly Prefab Home in the San Francisco Bay Area - will be held on Saturday, April 21st.   Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from keynote speakers from Bay-area based Simpatico Homes, Swatt Architects, San Francisco Modern Real Estate, East Bay Modern Real Estate and Marin Modern Real Estate.   Additionally confirmed attendees will have an opportunity to actually

With fewer than 50 homes, the Sequoyah Hills development is one of the smaller tracts of homes built by Joseph Eichler in Northern California. Most of the homes in this tract are 3-5 bedrooms, in a range of floor plans designed by architects Claude Oakland and Jones+Emmons featuring atriums and courtyards and some with views of the City and Bay of San Francisco.

Given its neighborhood's size, only a few Eichlers sell each year, mostly in the $500,000-$700,000 price range.  In fact, last year, 2011, only two sold with an average sold price of $637,000.  This year, 2012, there was a repairable bank-owned Eichler that closed below $500,000.

East Bay Modern Real Estate currently has 8156 Coach Drive listed in Sequoyah Hills for $650,000 with

I am pleased to have secured the perfect loft for a great guy in San Jose's bustling downtown district.  This loft development was designed by architect firm, Wurster, Bernardi, and Emmons, formerly of San Francisco, and features Brazilian walnut hardwood flooring, 17-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows, a gas-insert fireplace, granite/stainless kitchen, separate loft space with private master bedroom suite, two full baths, live/work office space, and community, year-round heated pool, spa, and gym facilities.

The client knew exactly where he wanted to live, so the search was simply a waiting game on the right unit.  However, due to the short-sale status of the transaction, coordination and communication with the banks proved to test the
