Oakland's Community Gardens

Oakland Parks and Recreation Department has a Community Garden Program that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to grow organic food and flowers in the 16 locations throughout the City. Plots are available on a first come first save basis. Each garden is different in size and style but the same in spirit, growing what nurtures our souls and bodies.

And while we are talking gardening, check out the Edible Gardening Demonstrations at Lake Merritt which feature a variety of programs, including the Cambodian Women’s Garden Group and The People’s Victory Garden.
