Brookfield Village is an established Oakland neighborhood that was originally developed during World War ll as a way to provide additional housing to all the workers needed for war-related manufacturing in the region. The land in which Brookfield Village was built was initially intended for industrial use, but today, it’s almost entirely residential outside of a few convenience stores, gas stations, and markets along Edes Avenue on the neighborhood’s north side. Easy access to Interstate 880 makes getting to and from downtown Oakland fairly quick and easy, which to some, is one of Brookfield Village’s best qualities.

Located in East Oakland, Brookfield Village is actually one of the first suburban-style tract housing developments to be built in Oakland, which explains all the long rows of single-family homes that seem to stretch on forever.
